Last Minute Valentine Surprise!? Simple Chocolate Truffle Fun!

The Godiva store will happily sell you chocolate truffles. They’re beautiful. And delicious. You can make your own with little effort or expertise, and come out with an equally delicious product. Couched in the knowledge that you did it your self, it will be even more satisfying. With practice, your truffles will even be as beautiful.

You need; 1/2 cup heavy cream, 6 oz semi sweet chocolate chips, and flavoring if you wish. The flavoring may be vanilla, Chambord, bourbon, Grand Marnier, Amaretto, or anything similar. In a saucepan bring the cream with 1 tablespoon liquer to a boil. As soon as the boil is struck, remove the pan from the fire and stir in the chocolate. Keep stirring ’til your ganache looks smooth and shiny.Pour the ganache into a clean pan and allow to cool. Once cool, use a small spoon to scoop out a portion roughly the size of a shooter marble. Quickly roll the chocolate between your hands as you would to form a meatball. Be quick so as not to melt the chocolate.

You have made a chocolate truffle! They may be coated with cocoa powder, chocolate, jimmie’s, or left as is. Enjoy. And take this as the beginning of your experimentation in developing your truffle making prowess for years to come. Your effort implies love, and that’s the best gift of all!

Happy Valentines Day!
